The advocate will attend your 504 or IEP meeting

Make sure that you understand all of your procedural safeguards IE your rights in case the situation gets to the point where an attorney needs to get involved

Making sure that we are building a team at school that you feel comfortable with that has your child's best interests in mind

Resolved most disagreements with the school system or the regional center

Resource coordination with 50 plus organizations
**If a disagreement goes to due process you will be provided a free list of low cost or pro bono attorneys for the state whose specialize in special education

Making sure you understand the importance of welfare and institution code 4501
WIC - Section 4501: "The State of California accepts a responsibility for persons with developmental disabilities and an obligation to them which it must discharge. Affecting hundreds of thousands of children and adults directly, and having an important impact on the lives of their families, neighbors, and whole communities, developmental disabilities present social, medical, economic, and legal problems of extreme importance."

Assist you in writing purchases of service for your regional center service coordinator to pass along to their supervisor
